Carpet Texture

Texture is a major aesthetic contributor when considering the overall look and performance of finished carpet. For example, a cut pile carpet is very plush while a loop pile can offer a variety of textural options. Carpet texture can also impact color. The same fiber can appear slightly darker in a cut pile carpet than if the same fiber were constructed in a level loop. Today, there are several pile textures available:

Level loop:

Loop pile carpet with one pile height.

Textured loop:

Loop pile carpet with slight height variation.

Multilevel loop:

Loop pile with more than one pile height.

Cut and loop:

Combination of cut pile tufts and loop pile tufts.

Tip shear:

A multilevel loop with the high loops sheared to give a cut & loop pile look.

Cut pile:

All tufts cut - it can be one, or more than one, pile height.
